SRI AYODHYA RAMA SLOKAM

श्री अयोध्या राम स्लोकम्


अन्जना पुत्र सुपूजितम् आनन्द दिव्य रुपम्

अवतारम् विष्णु स्वरूपम् आदिशेष सेवितम्

अगस्तय मुनिश्वरम् बोतितम् आदित्य हृदयम

आध्यात्मिकम् अयोध्या धाम श्रीरामम् प्रणमामयहम्




Lord Rama- You are being worshipped by Sri Hanuman, son of Anjana Devi,   Your form / appearance reflects eternal joy  (Anandam) and that Divine look (Divyam),  You are an incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu, Adi Sesha, in the form of Lakshmana, appeared on this earth to serve you, Sage Agastya preached you the Aditya Hridayam to conquer Ravana,  You are Adhyatamik, the spiritual or Supreme spirit,


I worship you  at Ayodhya, your abode, your birthplace.





योपाम् पुष्प सुपूजितम् जटायु प्रीति वर्धनम्

योद्धा जेता महावीर्यम् सबरी मोक्ष प्रदायिनम्

ज्योत्स्ना गुणम् सदैव सुशीलम् रामम् नीरज लोचनम्

योग रामम् अयोध्या धाम श्रीरामम् प्रणमामयहम्





I worship you by offering the Lotus, the flower of the water ( Yo apaha: Pushpam), You established that fondness for the bird Jatayu, You are a great warrior (Maha Veeryam)  born to win (Jeta) , all battles (Yoddha), You are the cause for Sabari getting Mukti., You are perpetually  cool as the Moon.





Jyotsna Gunam refers to the slightly tarnished image of Lord Rama (like the stain on the Moon) to otherwise exceptionally blemishless character . The couple of incidents, that cause the stain , include the killing of Vali and sending Seeta to forest on the stray comments of a washerman.


Lord Rama, your eyes are wide like the Lotus, you represent all the Yogas,

धनुष धारिणम् सीता समेत श्री कोदण्ड रामम्

दण्डकारण्य प्रवेशम् खर-दूषण विनाशनम्

धनुषकोडी पुण्य क्षेत्रम् समुद्र सेतु बन्धनम्

दशरथ नंदन अयोध्या धाम श्रीरामम् प्रणमामयहम्




Lord Rama you appear wielding the mighty bow (Saranga) and in the company of Devi Seeta you are referred to as Kodandarama or the one who holds the bow called Kodandam.




(Note: Sharanga is the celestial bow created by Vishwakarma, while Kodandam refers specifically to the bow wielded by Lord Rama. According to some narratives, the bow Sharanga was given to Rama by Parasurama and the bow Kodandam, by Sage Agastya).



Lord Rama - You entered the Dandakaranya forest and destroyed the entire forces of Khara and Dushana. At the auspicious Dhanushkodi, you built the bridge across the sea. You, the son of Dasharatha,

यज्ञ अग्नि उदयम् कौशल्या सुप्रजा रामम्

यजुर्वेदान्त सारम् नित्य कल्याण स्वरूपम्

यक्ष गन्धर्व वानर सेवितम् भरतादि पादुका सुपूजितम् 

यशस्वी रुपम् अयोध्या धाम श्रीरामम् प्रणमामयहम्





Lord Rama - The fire of the Havan (Putrakameshti) was the cause of your birth, you are the virtuous son Kaushalya, You are the very essence of Yujur Veda, Your form is eternally auspicious (Nitya Kalyana Swaroopam), ,Yakshas (Kubera, Tataka), Gandharva (Khabanda) , Vanaras (Sugreev, Hanuman and Angad) worship you, Bharath and the rest worship your footwear, You are the  epitome of Glory and success (Yashasvi)

राक्ष्स सैन्य नाशनम् साक्ष्षात् नारायण स्वरूपम्

रावण मर्धनम् प्रिय विभीषण प्रतिष्टापनम् 

रागवम् करुणा पात्रम् जानकी कान्त स्मरणम्

राजकुल तिलकम् अयोध्या धाम श्रीरामम् प्रणमामयहम्



Lord Rama - You vanquished the entire army of the Rakshasas, You are the direct incarnation of Bhagwan Narayana, You defeated Ravana and established your favourite Vibhishana on the throne, O descendent of Raghu (Raghava) you are the vessel of compassion, the one who is always remembered by Devi Janaki, You are the Ornament of the Royal dynasty,


I worship you  at Ayodhya, your abode, your birthplace.




माता-पिता प्रिय बालकम् रामम् ज्येष्ठ कुमारम्

मारुति ह्रदय निवासम् कारुण्याम्रुत लोचनम्

मारीच प्राण नाशनम् इन्द्र पुत्र मुक्ति दायकम्

मानस पूजितम् अयोध्या धाम श्रीरामम् प्रणमामयहम्


Lord Rama you are the favourite son of your parents, you were the eldest, You live in the heart of Sri Hanuman,  Your eyes are full of compassion, You took the life Maricha (the golden deer), You gave liberation to Vali, the son of Indira, I worship you in my mind, 


I worship you  at Ayodhya, your abode, your birthplace.
